We were at my Birthday getaway at San Diego, walking down the street, when we noticed a bright red little car parked in front of the Italian restaurant. Italian food sounded just about right, so we decided to check it out. When we came in, we were greeted right away and seated at the nicely served table.
The man was playing the grand piano and the atmosphere was so nice and cozy, we decided to stay. And I'm so glad we did! We had an amazing romantic dinner, listened to beautiful live music and really enjoyed the ambiance. Great customer service and very attentive servers! The food was great! And the Burrata was just OUT of this world! You must try it!
I think I found my fav spot in San Diego!

We had a bad experience last night at Cafe Milano. We chose this place because they are listed on the Passport Dining website as a participating active member. Their offer  on the website was for a complimentary dinner with the purchase of another dinner. We have used this Passport card many times for many years to try new restaurants in our area.Have never had a problem.
The restaurant had no air conditioning and and was very hot . The waiters and host were dripping sweat.. The water was even warm. Our waiter was pleasant and helpful but the
The food was just okay if that.  The kind you eat because your hungry but would never want again. My husband had a shrimp scampi, the shrimp were small and spongy. There was not enough food for him( portion was soo small)  so I gave him 1/2 of mine . I had a stuffed  chicken , which was also just okay and was happy to get it off my plate . The food was not horrible but definitely not great.
Very salty too. Was drinking water all night.
When it was time to go , we gave them our passport card and credit card and was told they are no longer taking the card and  we should take it up with the passport people. He said" it's not my problem they did not take it down from the passport website" . We explained they are still listed as an participating member and that is why we came here and ordered what we did. The owner comes out all flustered and upset and actually starts yelling at us , in front of people , making a scene! He was yelling throwing his hand up in the air! Seriously! He finally said he would give us 10 dollars off which my husband at first refused because it was not the money but the craziness of this guy and the situation. We finally accepted the 10 and passed it on to the  poor waiter who was nice and has to work for this owner. Not how you treat a customer!  We will not be returning and probably wouldn't anyways because the food was nothing special. Don't like to go out to  a subpar dinner and be refused a valid coupon and then be abused.

Such great and friendly customer service! We felt so welcomed as soon as we were seated. There's a piano in the front where someone was playing classical music.
The food tasted very fresh- pasta noodles were cooked al dente and the sauce wasn't too heavy.
We also loved their fresh warm bread with balsamic vinegar (we started dipping it in the pesto sauce).

Tiramisu was one of the best I've had- alcohol flavor didn't overpower the cake. The cappuccino ice cream truffle was also delicious. I would definitely come back to try other dishes.

This place is a sleeper! Great food! Good service.  Doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a great place.

Updated Review: Still AMAZING 10/10!! To date, still one of the best Italian restaurants we have been too. The food is delicious, and served with huge portions but so good that you continue to eat it no matter how full you are!!
This last time in, Marco was our server and he did a phenomenal job and making our experience even better!!
We will continue coming back here whenever we are in the area. I highly recommend the tortellini but everything on the menu looks delicious.
